How To Protect Data In Windows 10 – Creating Backup Files

modern era, computers are very essential part of a being to be more productive and efficient, so data which we collect over the years say professional or personal and one day due to your fault or any system error or any other of million reasons, it is suddenly gone, surly you will find your heart pounding and might be in the state of a panic attack. In order to avoid it from happening as per famous saying ‘Prevention is Better Than Cure’, one can generate the back up of the your personal as well as of professional data. There are mainly two types of backups which are:

  • File backup
  • System backup or System image

In file backup, it is mainly back-up of your important files, pictures videos, folders, etc. It is very simple to form a file backup, which saves a lot of time and effort. While the other one i.e. the system backup is the direct image of the system that you are using i.e. all the applications, partitioning of drives, movies, videos, etc. That is why it is called system IMAGE as it reflects the image of the system and this type of back-up includes the file backup and it is far more complicated and time consuming as well as space consuming as it consumes hundreds of gigabytes of memory so it takes time to process the backup depending upon space covered by the system.

In order to avoid the loss of system files, one can buy a hard drive, which can have a copy of all the system files, which are in the laptop, so that you won’t lose the first graduation picture of your son or daughter or the first anniversary with your loved ones. Or there is another option, which is more helpful as sometimes we can’t carry laptop or hard drive with us. That option is cloud storage and it will be safe and protected with you and you can access it anywhere you go provided you should have a good internet connection. In many cases, professionals have 2-3 backups secured in different locations so as to make sure they will not lose any of their important data.

External Drive Storage

As far as file backup is concerned, all you need to do is follow below steps:

  • Take an external drive and connect it to the computer. Then in Windows 10, go to System and then in Settings.
  • After clicking on the Settings, it will show Update and Security.
  • In drop down menu of Update and Security, click on the back up and then add the external drive, which you have connected to the computer and make the back up.

You can set a particular drive for your backup, let’s say you have different drives for different purposes and you can also select a drive to default, so when you connect it with the system, Windows 10 will automatically generate backup to your default drive and you can easily update it time to time. Not only this, you can command the system to take out old backups and generate new ones in case the drive gets full.

Cloud Storage

Another way as mentioned above is to sign in to your cloud storage account. These days many companies offer more storage space for backups and other tasks, usually 5GB to 15GB of free storage is provided. All you need to do is enable the ‘file sync’ from the computer to cloud storage account and the systems will automatically synchronize your files to the cloud storage. This makes the work of backup less worrying and hassle free, and also, it loses the burden on your pocket i.e. not to buy expensive hard drives. Many companies such as Microsoft one drive, drop box, Google drive, etc. provide online storage facility.
