Step 1

Reinstall the printer in your system. Click ‘start’ and then point ‘Devices and Printers’. Those who use Windows XP, they need to click ‘Printer and Faxes’ from start menu and ‘all programs’. Locate the printer and then right click the Printer and choose the ‘Remove Printer’ option. Confirm the action when asked and exit the window. Restart if needed and go back to the ‘Devices and Printers’ and click the option ‘Add a Printer’. Follow onscreen prompts and reinstall the printer. The printer will work as usual without showing signs of error.

Step 2

This step is followed when Step-1 fails to work. Update the printer driver from the website of the manufacturer although you are able to search printer drivers via window update. To get more accurate and apt printer driver, look for the manufacturer website. Offer your model number of printer and relevant details. You can then fetch the latest driver software. If it is in zip file, extract the information and content and operate the administrator privilege. When you finish up with this, the printer will work.

Step 3

Are you running a wireless printer? Then, the IP address will cause conflict, leading to printer errors. If you want to fix the issue relating to IP address, make sure your printer IP address matches up with the router. So, everytime the printer is restarted, the router assigns new IP address, leading to errors and conflicts. So, in the wireless router configuration, try to assign a static IP address. In order to change the configuration, you may be needed to log in the web interface of router and then make alterations. Refer to the printer or router manual about assigning the static IP address.

Step 4

You can simply restart the printer spooler service in order to restore things to normalcy. Open the ‘Run’ utility and restart Printer Spooler Service. You should type ‘services.msc’ in the box. After clicking ‘OK’, you will notice the services window. Now on the screen, check for ‘Print Spooler’, right click and restart. You need to make sure that you are logged on with the admin rights. Step 5

Disable the SNMP feature if the problem persists. SNMP stands for Simple Network Management Protocol. This SNMP works like a charm. In order to disable the feature, refer to your printer manual.

Step 6

Have a look at your printer and make sure it is not running out of paper or ink. Certain printers wrongly give error message when the ink or paper is not there. Load the paper tray with the stack of paper and see the ink cartridge. If the cartridge is empty, replace with a new.

Step 7

If there are multiple printers installed and if the printer is not set to default, you will notice error messages. Set your printer to the ‘default’ option in order to rectify things. Click ‘Start’ and choose ‘Devices and Printers’. Right click on the printer and then choose ‘Set as Default Printer’ from the options. When it is at default, you will notice the check mark beside.

Step 8

If you are using a network printer, the firewall program may be interfering leading it to go offline. Turn off the firewall program and Windows Firewall which you installed in the computer. The firewall built may be the culprit.
