Simple steps to remove annoying pop-ups In Chrome

Pop-ups are really annoying, especially when you are in the middle of something and after every two seconds, there is a pop-up on your screen. No matter how many times you exit the window, it keeps popping up your screen.

A pop-up is a small graphical user interface display area that suddenly appears on your screen while you are browsing the internet. Since, most of the people today uses Chrome as their default browser, these pop-ups are usually controlled automatically; thanks to Google. But sometimes they don’t tend to go away automatically. Here are some easy to use tricks that can help you evade the problem permanently: –

  • Select Settings from the Chrome menu
    • Go to your chrome browser
    • Click on the three hash lines on the right end of the browser search box
    • Click on settings
  • Go to Advanced Settings
    • Once you are on the settings screen, scroll to the bottom of the page
    • Click on “Show advanced settings”
    • On the advanced settings window, scroll down and find the Privacy header
    • Under privacy header, click Contents settings button
    • Again, scroll down a little more to find Pop-Ups. Ensure “do not allow any site to pop-ups (Recommended)” is checked
    • Now click done
  • Check any site approved for pop-ups
    • On the advanced settings window, scroll down and find the Privacy header
    • Under privacy header, click Contents settings button
    • Again, scroll down a little more to find Pop-Ups
    • Click on the “Manage exceptions” button
    • On the new screen if you find any entries, select the entry and move to the extreme right to find “X”
    • Click “X”
    • Click done

  • Search for Malware. Even though you might not have any approved sites, still you might be getting pop-ups because of some annoying software. Go to google search to find and install anti-malware software. Once installed, run a full scan of your system. If you are aware, try running it in safe mode.
  • Uninstall any suspicious software
    • Go to Control panel
    • Click add or remove programs
    • Look at the list of programs that look suspicious to you or you don’t recognize them
    • Select, right click and uninstall
