The low resolution of the Netbook can cause problems while using a few apps. But you can improve the resolution by making a registry change.

Here is the complete procedure to follow for the registry change for higher resolution.

  1. Go to the registry editor

To reach the registry editor, you can use the command “regedit” and type in the Run dialog box available in the Start menu. Also, you can use the command in the “Command prompt” as well.

  1. Find the Display1_DownScalingSupported

You need to scroll up the menu section available in the left-hand section of the registry editor. There, you will find the “Edit” option. This will take you to the “Find” menu.

Inside the “Find” menu, you need to search for the “Display1_DownScalingSupported”.

However, if you are unable to find this registry key, add it on your own.

To add the registry key on your own:

  • You need to go to the Edit and select the “New” option.
  • There, you can select the DWORD (32-bit) value and add the key with:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0001

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0002

  1. Don’t forget to change the value of the keys

To successfully complete the task, you need to change the value of the key from 0 to 1. This needs to be done every instance of the key in order to get successful results.

  1. Restart your computer

After completing the task, you can start your computer again and go to the resolution settings section. Now, you should be able to see some new options such as 1024×768 and 1152×864 for the Netbook.
